ALGEBRIS 69F CUP 2023, GP3 MALCESINE DAY 1

ALGEBRIS 69F CUP GP3 IN MALCESINE: GROUPE ATLANTIC TAKES THE LEAD AFTER AN EXHILARATING DAY OF FOILING RACES

The Algebris 69F Cup GP3 kicked off with a thrilling day of racing on Lake Garda, featuring ideal foiling conditions and intense competition among the 10 teams representing 8 nations. The event, held in conjunction with the prestigious Foiling Week, witnessed six fiercely contested races as the Southern breeze, known as Ora, swept across the lake.

With a fantastic start to the regatta, the young French team from Groupe Atlantic established themselves as the provisional leaders after securing victory in three out of the six races. Their remarkable performance places them ahead of the Swiss sailors of Katana and the UK-based team Oceana Vivo, who closely trail in second and third place respectively.

Commenting on their impressive display, helmsman Alex de Weck shared his enthusiasm, saying, “It was a very nice day. I arrived just yesterday after my final high school exam, and being here for this event in such a beautiful setting is fantastic. I am extremely pleased with the team’s performance; we put in a lot of effort during our winter training, and it’s paying off. The conditions today were fantastic, albeit challenging as always, but overall, it was a great experience.”

Anticipation builds as the racing action will resume tomorrow with another six exhilarating regattas taking place right in front of Fraglia Vela Malcesine, the host club for both the 69F event and the 10th edition of the Foiling Week. Spectators can expect more adrenaline-fueled racing and fierce competition as the teams strive for victory on the renowned foiling stage of Lake Garda.
