SDS RACING IS THE BEST TEAM IN  THE PERSICO 69F CUP GP 4.1 IN MALLORCA

The Swiss team wins the first of the two events in Puerto Portals

Gran Prix 4.1 of the Persico 69F Cup has just finished in Puerto Portals, Mallorca, after a week of training and racing in the world-famous Bay of Palma. Two bullets out of 11 races were enough to claim victory in the Persico 69F Cup GP 4.1 for SDS Racing: the Swiss team lead by Urlich Volz – absent at this event – with his daughters Anne-Sophie and Coco in the team, won for the first time a Persico 69F Cup event, after finishing on the podium a few months ago in Puntaldia, Sardinia. Federico Colaninno, Ettore Botticini and Simone Malagugini joined the Volz family team for this week – and most of the season.

We are really happy about the result, despite the very light conditions we proved to be able to play it even with teams that are training almost weekly”, commented Ettore Botticini. “We are also happy to have tried this new configuration with three people onboard, it’s been successful, with the level of the fleet getting higher at every event! SDS will most likely join the circuit again next year, probably inserting some US events, we can’t wait for it, it is a great opportunity for us and we’ll keep on pushing and looking for the best configuration possible”.

With a seven point-margin from the winner, Fin1Racing finished in second place, with the Olympic sailors Allan Norregaard, Janne Jarvinen and Iago Lopez joined this week by the talented Kevin Cabrera Gonzalez. Groupe Atlantic closes the podium, with its French brilliant athletes Clement Cron, Valentin Sipan and Louis Chambet.

As the lights turn off on the GP 4.1, they start shining on Persico 69F Cup GP 4.2 and in Puerto Portals there are some teams leaving, some staying and others joining the fleet for a total of nine boats that hit the water today for the first warm-up day. Fin1Racing and Groupe Atlantic are among the ones staying to get as many points as possible in order to put their hands on the season trophy. At the moment they are tie at the top with 69 points each, this week will be decisive, and we expect them to carefully watch – and match – each-other.

Racing will start on Thursday October the 27th and end on Saturday with two prize giving, one for GP 4.2, and one for the Persico 69F 2022, in one of the best sailing venue you can get.
