ValenciaMar Sailing Week, Groupe Atlantic clinches on the lead

Valencia, Spain. Day Three of the ValenciaMar Sailing Week started off with the sun shily hiding behind some clouds and the wind blowing from East ranging from 6/7 knots in the first race of the day, up to 14/15 knots in the fifth and sixth race when the teams had some cupsize and nose dives. Everything was safe and sound, and the teams actually had lots of fun in the first windy day of the first event of the 2023 Algebris 69F Cup.

Four of six wins went to Groupe Atlantic (FRA), who missed one due to an issue to the rudder, quickly fixed by the 69F shore team, did not help the French getting that overall lead, it is in the hands of the Suisse Katana Sailing who got one bullet and a few seconds and thirds.

“Really nice day today, we started with light wind the first two races, almost displacement in upwind”, said Ivan Aranguren, main trimmer onboard Katana Sailing. From the third race it went up, we were going superfast, we almost didn’t hoist the kite in the downwind, it was felt at times like a rodeo, and we managed to have only one cupsize. It was super fun today we loved it”.

In third overall, after Groupe Atlantic, it is the Rum Runners team, that had been leading the first two days. Tomorrow is the final day of the first Grand Prix of the 2023 Algebris 69F Cup, six more races on schedule with the last possible start not later than 3pm immediately followed by the wet medal ceremony in ValenciaMar.
