FASTER AND STEADIER ON DAY TWO OF THE 69F WOMEN FOILING GOLD CUP

The female athletes are quick to improve their foiling skills with Garda dreamy conditions of wind and flat water

Ten races sailed today by the ten teams involved in the first ever 69F Women Foiling Gold Cup in Gargnano, Lake Garda. The wind from the south started blowing early at about 10-12 knots with flat water and allowed the all-women team coming from 9 nations and three continents to finish the second and third flight and open the fourth.

American Magic 1 is leading the ranking, followed by Team JAJO – DutchSail by one point and both have less races in the bag – and less points. In third are the New Zealand of VMG Racing, but the fourth, Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano is close on points and with two races less than them. Similar situation for the Spanish team, in fifth but with fewer races and very close on points.

The weather forecast for tomorrow are just as nice and the briefing has been called for 10am with immediate possible dock-out. Saturday, tomorrow, is the last qualifying day, then on Sunday it will be time for the Gold Fleet for the top six teams, followed by the best-of-three match-race for the best two teams.
